The Octet – Eight guidelines for living your life
Humans do not need to explore space in person as robots can do the job far better. The distances are so great and hence the time to travel to new solar systems so long humans cannot engage in such activities. My books MAXWELL EMPIRE BOOKS are based on this premise.

The original Octet.
There are an increasing number of people who have given up religion. The statistics for Australia show this to be the case and other places are following a similar trend. No doubt there are some countries that aren’t.
My contention is that society needs a set of guidelines to use in bringing up the kids and keep one and all on the straight and narrow.
Hence the compilation of the OCTET.
There are only eight guidelines. I researched on the Internet what I could find on the subject, came up with a list of thirty three which I condensed to eight.
So here they are. This is assuming you have not read them. Discussion of each follows.
THE EIGHT GUIDELINES OF THE OCTET
1. Live your life with the knowledge that this time you have alive is all that you are going to get, with no previous life having been had by you or that there will be another life after you die, so value this life.
2. Humans are social animals so enjoy and value time spent together with other animals, particularly those of your species.
3. This life is all you are going to have so value it. Do not cause society to remove your life from you because of your conduct.
4. Look after the well-being of your mind and body.
5. Take full responsibility for your actions.
6. You should treat others as you would like others to treat you.
7. All living things have a right to exist and all animals are equal.
8. Value the future on a timescale longer than your own.

On May 9th, 2015 I wrote the following on my blog.
It is easy to see why mankind invented religion. A few years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. Looking up the internet resulted in me anticipating not celebrating Christmas at the end of the year. Frightening. Fortunately Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne changed that with some very satisfying treatment, helped by the radiologists at the Private Hospital in Wodonga.
Prior to cancer being found in me I had been wanting to live for a hundred or more years more as the previous twenty years or so had been post Australia and very interesting. Working in Thailand, South Korea, and Nigeria and experiencing the culture and people had been such a change from nanny state Australia. There was so much else to possibly experience, not as a tourist, but as a working member of the society. The trouble with beginning late in life was that many people regarded me as being old. I thought of myself as anything but old. Generally anyway. Obviously I could no longer gallop across the grass. My back could get upset and remain so for several weeks before it fixed itself. Likewise my knees, or feet, or veins had problems that were not around when I was regarded as younger. Would you believe that my wife’s father had to retire as a policeman in Thailand when he turned 60. I spent two years in China post cancer where it was even worse for women. Get to 50 in the public service and they retire women because they are then old. Unbelievable. Anyway that all that has little to do with the end of life as such. If your life is visibly ending it is far more frightening than the change in life that comes from the transition from work to retirement. Get cancer and life appears to be over. It really pisses you off. Or it did me. In Thailand in 1999 I stayed at a guesthouse for a week and encountered a 59 year old American. He was of the opinion that he was ready to die. He had done all the things he wanted to do. I have never been in that position and cannot think that I ever will be. Hence the attraction of life after death, with or without the dozens of virgins. Buddhists believe that you are reborn as a new lifeform suitable to how you have behaved in your current life. This is an obvious incentive to be good in this one. So just what form will the two who got shot in Bali be in now? Would their original badness override their good works since being told they were to die? A cynic would suggest the good works resulted from impending death, an attempt to convince people they deserved to live, not from some intrinsic goodness. It does show that we should take regard of the laws of the countries we visit and not assume we will be travelling in a culture with similar ideas to Australia.
I know there was an old chap a year or two ago who went off to Switzerland to stop living because he had been alive for over a hundred years. I don’t think most of us would follow that path unless we were in constant pain as does happen to some unfortunate people.
Most of us would prefer to live forever.
Hence if a religion offers, as they do, such a possibility, it will get customers. Unfortunately some also suggest that particular actions guarantee eternal life in really great circumstances which results in completely inappropriate actions.
People need to be reminded that our existence is BIRTH – LIFE – DEATH. Sad, but true.

I personally seem to spend a lot of time talking to Mum Cat, Bobbie Cat and Sissy Cat, and don’t particularly appreciate Bobbie wanting to come inside and have a biscuit or two at 2am.

This life is all you are going to have so value it. Do not cause society to remove your life from you because of your conduct.
Some countries do not have capital punishment, some do. Inappropriate conduct in a particular country can result in execution.

Look after the well-being of your mind and body.
This is a pretty obvious reminder to all although ignored by many. Fatties, druggies and the like are not heeding such advice, and they should.

Take full responsibility for your actions.
Nanny state Australia does not endorse this item. People going overseas can get into trouble when they do not take into account local laws.

One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself.
I think this is pretty obvious.
About 7.

All living things have a right to exist and all animals are equal.
Australians have laws to ensure that humans do not mistreat animals. Unfortunately as has been seen recently the Aboriginal culture is exempt from these laws.
I particularly noted that the Sioux Indians say that all animals are equal and Buddhists do not kill animals.
About 8.

Value the future on a timescale longer than your own.
Of relevance here is the assumption that humans can keep breeding like rabbits. There are already too many humans with other species becoming extinct. Your attitude to abortion is relevant here. Women must be able to control their own bodies and not have unwanted babies. More people means more mouths which means depletion of fish stocks and similar problems. It also means more electricity is needed so more use of carbon fuels which is resulting in the planet warming.
It has been proposed that two billion is the sustainable population for the planet.

The Beginning of the Maxwell Empire
In the thirtieth century the Maxwell Government set up a program which is called the Development of the Maxwell Empire to spread humans throughout space. Ten spaceships are to be built initially and sent off to planets which can support life as we know it. They are from four or so light years to forty light years away so the time for a spaceship to get to them will vary from eight hundred years for the nearest to eight thousand years for the furthest.
The spaceships are just huge robots taking the DNA message of all living things on Earth to begin again on ten planets.
Maxwell 01 left in 3415 with Maxwell 02 to 05 leaving every hundred years and then a break of five hundred years because they realised they needed to hear from Maxwell 01 whether the procedures used on arrival at the planet worked.
They are built at the factories at Space City.

He, or a she, was not identified so now there is a lot of research going on through Earth records to try to ascertain who would do such a thing and who could do such a thing. |

AH01
Represents the year After Humans produced on planet Maxwell 01.
Arena
Monthly Arena Shows eradicate members of society deemed a danger to other members.
Each month there is a show on TV of the performance in the Arena.
Arenas are located in places that are not going to be inundated when the water level gets to 60m.
They are along the lines of the ancient Romans contests of lions versus Christians with current baddies up against pit bulls or pigs.
Cocooning
Robocops apprehending baddies by covering them with hardening filaments which immobilise them but do not harm them.
Doctor
A glass cupboard you sit in and get analysed by the sensors which detect the state of your body and whether anything is wrong. On Maxwell 01 the Doctor extracts the fertilised eggs for the nanny robots to grow.
Fish fooded
People put to death are converted into fish food.
Guard
Robot accompanying humans on activities to save them when they get in difficulties.
Hunt
A Hunt takes place when a criminal destined for fish fooding attempts to recover their place in the living by engaging in a Hunt which they aim to win and survive. A number of hunters attempt to find and kill them in difficult terrain. The action is live streamed to the world for its entertainment.
Hunthood
Criminals can claim hunthood so that they compete against a selected group of killers to attempt to be the only survivor which then saves the criminal and their relatives who were similarly destined for the fishes.
Mars Miner spaceship
Robospaceships that fly between the Earth and Mars.
Medical Aid Exempt – MAE
Status of individuals addicted to harmful drugs who are not regarded as worthy of the time or attention of medical facilities and are not treated.

Spaceship moving people and their goods between Space City and the Moon Elevator.

Structure of the roboairship
There is an upper surface converting sunlight to electricity, a rigid framework for the cladding, with many discrete panels to provide stability in case of a leak of hydrogen, cells holding water, many electrolysis units converting electricity to hydrogen, a layer below the envelope consisting of the robot controls and of storage units for the roboserves and robocops, and below that a long passenger compartment providing all the facilities necessary for comfortable touring over the countryside.
The hydrogen is used in fuel cells to produce electricity to run the roboairship.
The passenger compartment can be detached and replaced with water storage units for fire-fighting.
Robocook
Replaces humans in the kitchen.
Robodrone
Scans humans to ensure they are not up to no good.
Because of the potential for large scale disruption of life because robots can be readily produced in large numbers with that in mind continual surveillance of the population is necessary.
Robofiries
Fire fighting robots – fly over a fire and drop water/fire retardant on it. They act in large swarms to rapidly extinguish fires.

Roboplane
Plane capable of high speeds and vertical landing and take off.
The engines on a roboplane will be rocket engines with the plane carrying both hydrogen and oxygen. The speed of the plane will therefore be considerable so that the time to get to the other towns is not too great.
Roboserve
Flying robots that rescue roboairships that get in trouble or life.
Robospaceship
Take the DNA of all Earth life to new planets.
Space City Shuttle
Transport from the high speed bus terminal to your hotel in Space City.
Sucker
Essential device in Earth viewing restaurants in Space City. The vacuum cleaner sucker gathers small pieces of solids or liquids accidentally released in the weightless environments in Space City.

What stage are we at?
Humans are the most developed life on Earth to date but we have an awful long way to go. Our kin in a million years will decry the baseness of our conduct because we have it recorded for them to view and be thankful that they are so much more than their 21st century forebears.
In Australia the folk who identify as Aboriginal can legally stone fellow creatures to death as one called Waylon Johncock did not so long ago to a wombat and then placing the record of his actions on social media.
In the following of their religion the Taliban restrict the activities of the females of their country so that their development is severely restricted. Similarly in Iran the attire of women is decreed and noncompliance can result in death. Some States in Nigeria also follow Sharia Law to the detriment of females.
The other main religion in Nigeria uses preaching from a couple of millennia ago as their main resource but why has there not been a human recently to be given the message “Stop with the kid making, humans. You are now a plague.”
These thoughts result in the thought that humans have a long way to go before their conduct is acceptable to reasonable people such as those in the year 1,068,487 on the planet Maxwell 237 who wish that time travel was a possibility so they could return to the year 2025 and sort out their rellies who definitely needed sorting out.
The same thoughts could also be had by folk in the year 1,204,643,207 on planet Maxwell 437,083 when they read what their reliies on Maxwell 237 thought.
So our current compassion rating for all life is zero, with us humans needing to improve our behaviour. The younger generation needs to take over the world and get The Family of All Life Alliance to ensure there is change in how humans behave.
The other problem with humans is their number. Stone Age folk like Australians before 1788 wandered around the country eating what they could catch or dig up. They used sharpened rocks or bits of wood. The only relics that reminded of their existence were a few deformed rocks or some bones.
Compare that to us humans currently. We use metal and plastic objects that are going to be around forever. Metal is worthy of recycling but most plastic goes to landfill. Not all humans are contributing to landfill because billions are too poor to use such products but aspire to.
Landfill has had enormous additions post plastics which means in my lifetime.
That is a frightening realisation because humans and their landfill contributions are here until the planet expires. Eight billion humans with minimal recycling of waste should be a worry for all humans but it is obviously not. Landfill is going to grow and grow and grow.
Solar panels at the end of their ten to twenty five year life will all be going to landfill. Instead they will all need to be recycled. Humans are here for the rest of the Earth’s life. That is for millions and millions of years. Current disposable of waste methods means there will be continents of landfill. Nothing should go to landfill. Humans have to make all products recyclable.
We need less humans and more recycling.
